Malaysia Says CIIE Encourages International Trade and Investment

The China International Import Expo (CIIE) provides an important platform for other countries to
promote the products and services they offer, which can increase international trade, attract more
investment, and provide opportunities for economic partners, said a Malaysian business leader.

The sixth edition of CIIE, scheduled for November 5-10 in Shanghai, east China, marks the return
of full in-person exhibitions for the first time since the outbreak of COVID-19.

Low Kian Chuan, President of the Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry
of Malaysia (ACCCIM), told Xinhua in a recent interview session that this year is the sixth
consecutive year ACCCIM has organized companies Malaysia to participate in CIIE.

According to Low, Malaysian exhibitors will bring food and agricultural products as well as
consumer goods, including fruit, drinks, snacks and cosmetics, to CIIE.

“China has entered a new era with demand for more diverse and personalized food consumption.
There is increasing demand from Chinese consumers for high-quality, natural and organic food,
and Malaysia has a wealth of agricultural and food resources, such as frozen durian, bird’s nest ,
coffee, and so on, to meet the needs of the Chinese market,” he explained.

According to Low, CIIE is not only an event to present Malaysian products to Chinese consumers,
but also a forum for entrepreneurs to meet potential partners from various countries, exchange
ideas on various innovative ideas, and encourage international cooperation in the food industry.
