China’s current account surplus was recorded at 208.9 billion US dollars in the first nine months of
this year, the Chinese State Administration of Foreign Exchange said on Friday (3/11).
Of this total, according to data released by the administration, the surplus in trade in goods reached
454.2 billion US dollars, and the deficit in trade in services reached 168.2 billion US dollars.
The ratio of the current account surplus to gross domestic product reached 1.6 percent during the
period, still within a reasonable range, said Wang Chunying, a spokesman for the administration.
Despite the complicated external situation, China’s economy maintains its recovery trend and
growth momentum, which will continue to support the basic balance in the balance of payments,
Wang said.
